About Dr. Mashiur Rahman
Scientific Career
Dr. Mashiur Rahman, has 10 years of experience with semiconductor and micro/nano fabrication technologies and his research interests include information technology, nanotechnology, and biosensors. In 1998 while he was a graduate student he developed a novel solar cell system. In 2002 he discovered the first atomic resolution image of Adenosine, and in 2005 he discovered the shrinking effect of Spin-on-Glass. In 2005 he joined Marshall University (West Virginia, USA) as a scientist, where he was working with DNA nanosensors and microfluidic devices. He is the member of IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), SPIE (the International Society for Optical Engineering) and JSAP (the Japan Society of Applied Physics). In 2007 he was the chair of the SPIE conference on Organic and Bionano Interfaces and Device. In 2008 he returned back to his home contry, Bangladesh and joined at North South Unviersity.
IP telephony and Call center
Dr. Rahman is working with IP telephony (VoIP) and callcenter technologies. He is particularly focusing open source VoIP solutions like Asterisk, TrixBox etc. At Bangladesh he establish an IP telephony lab at North South University.
E-learning
Dr. Rahman is working with e-learning/distance learning as his research interest and consultant for education institutes. He was the senior project leader for developing a virtual university for Ryukyu Foundation (Tokyo, Japan). He is the core developer of McWeadon Institute (Washington, USA) which is providing high quality flexible courses designed to fit the time demands of busy adult professionals.
Author
He published about 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers in international conferences and scientific journals. He is also a science writer in his native language Bengali and regularly writing on electronics related topics in national magazines of Bangladesh.
Education
Dr. Rahman earned his PhD at Graduate University for Advanced Studies, Japan (2005) in Physics, and his MSc and BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Toyohashi University of Technology (Japan) in 2002 and 2000, respectively.
Community work
Dr. Rahman is the founded of BIGGANI < Biggani.org >, a social network of Bengali scientists and specialist arround the world. Biggani.org is promiting science and technology in Bangla/Bengali language. Dr. Rahman is a core member of MuhammadYunus.org, Technology Advisor of Prof Yunus’ Global Gateway MuhammadYunus.org.
